In my last piece I talked about Darcy Regier playing it smart. Now my question is going to tie into whether Ryan Miller is going to be a part of the Sabres future plans or if Darcy has a plan to move forward with their goaltending situation.
Even though Ryan has had 30 plus win seasons in the last 7 years I believe his good days are long gone. Over the past couple seasons especially it hasn’t been the same watching him. Letting in terrible goals and just listening to the same old we have to get better speech only carries you for so long in my book.
The question then becomes is Jhonas Enroth the guy for the whole season? We know he can come in and play well for this team when needed but how about every night? I think he is ready to handle this workload. He has proven himself and now I think it’s going to be a good time for him to step in and play.
When thinking about this it leads me to two questions. Will Darcy deal Miller? What will we get return if he is traded? First I think Darcy wouldn’t be into trading his goaltender at first but if the right deal came along he would definitely look into it(Bobby Ryan supposed deal). This team has showed they are changing the way they build their team and pursuing a lot more players than in the past. The players I think would be in a trade with Miller would be another top D man to add to the lineup or a top six power forward I guess you can say. I mean don’t get me wrong I love the moves this team has done to help change their identity but now it’s time to get some much needed scoring help as well.
Lastly I go back to think what would Darcy do but now since this team has no more financial restrictions holding him back. Will he pull the trigger and really change the roster or will he slowly move some players in and eventually find the roster he’s comfortable with.
