Let’shear it for the Little Guy!!

This past week and a half, I have read many, many accounts of Patrick Kaleta. I love the guy. He is hard nosed, no-nonsense kind of player. He is willing to throw his tiny body (5′ 11″  198 lbs) into the fray and has the presence of mind to skate away before incurring too many penalties. What makes it better is when the Buffalo Sabres get power plays for other teams retaliating against Patrick Kaleta.  He gets a lot of fighting penalties, because he doesn’t back down …. EVER!  Why would you let another team try to pick this guy up?  He will play great with Steve Ott and Nathan Gerbe on the same line!  Talk about a match-up nightmare … Holy Cow!

He is the local boy made good. The feel good story that gives us dads teachable moments to our kids. The “you can do anything you want” attitude. I have talked about Mr. Kaleta too my kids about his attitude .. always trying to be the best and work and improve his game.  I talk about how the so-called “experts” make the wrong call on players alot!  My daughter is a dancer .. my son a martial artist .. both are brimming with confidence, thanks to Patrick Kaleta being Patrick Kaleta (and a little bit of me … lol).

I love that the Boys in Blue re-signed him. He was one of 2 Free Agents/Restricted Free Agents that were a must sign for me, the other being Tyler Ennis. Patrick Kaleta grew up just outside of Buffalo, was a Sabres fan his whole life, and now he plays for his favorite team. Love him or Hate him, he creates problems in match-ups for other teams. He doesn’t play a lot of minutes, but uses his time to his utmost advantage.  He does get some points .. but mainly his role is to disrupt the flow and momentum built up by the other team.  This is a role he does brilliantly.

Yes Sir … I’m glad Patrick Kaleta is staying a Buffalo Sabre!
