It is looking to be a nice sunny Saturday as the summer trickles to a close. Buffalo Sabres fans eagerly and anxiously await the hopeful start of the season. Our morning report segment ha sgone through the 2012-2013 schedule and given you a glimpse at the opponents for the upcoming season. Today we continue our trek and the fourth game on the table for the Buffalo Sabres in November is the start of the dreaded west coast trip.
This trip includes stops in San Jose, Phoenix, and Anaheim before the team returns home.
Today’s focus is on the San Jose Sharks. This western conference foe rears its head twice this year – once in San Jose on November 8th, and then the shark attack continues on Tuesday December 4th, 2012.
The Buffalo Sabres faced off against the Sharks just once last season – towards the end of the year as they were pushing towards the playoffs. Having won four of their last five games, the Sabres used overtime to beat the Sharks 1-0, before continuing to Vancouver with a 5-3 stomping. With six wins in seven games, it appeared to many Sabres fans that they could once again slip into the post season with late season heroics.
Their next loss put them back on the chase, and they were never able to recover.
San Jose is looking for that final piece to finally break into the latter stages of the playoffs. Could this be the year for the black and teal? It seems they are only one piece away from having a complete team. Could the Sharks and the Buffalo Sabres be waiting for the start of the season to assess their final needs?
