Buffalo Sabres & NHL: Tuesday Muse Day

Tuesday Muse Day will be a ranting, raving, rambling weekly article relating to all things hockey, with a particular focus on the NHL and the Buffalo Sabres. This is the fifth edition. These are my personal thoughts and opinions; thus, they may not be lucid. Yeah, I am a day late this time. Sue me.

Tyler Ennis – still no word on a new deal with the Sabres. Not even a breath that something is being worked on…

Shane Doan – is expected to sign a deal prior to September 15th, although we have heard this song and dance with other supposed deadlines. We look forward to welcoming you to Buffalo soon, Shane, because anyone who turns down a 4 year deal for 30 million freakin’ dollars with a team that is expected to be competing for Stanley Cups in that time span, would be a numbskull. I have witnessed your play for over a decade, sir, and know that you are not an idiot. Also, 30 million flippin’ dollars would be a nice little setup for your kiddies, wouldn’t you say?

Overpaid – It would be interesting to see Thomas Vanek, Ville Leino, and Shane Doan on the same line with the Sabres. This would potentially be the most overpaid line in the NHL…

Evgeni Malkin – has reportedly agreed to play with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL under a week-to-week contract if there is an NHL lockout. How many other NHL stars would join him?

Nail Yakupov – is being rumored to also head overseas if there is a lockout. I wonder what plans Sabres top draft pick Mikhail Grigorenko has…

Rochester Americans – during the last NHL lockout, in 2004-05, the Amerks featured a nice roster of NHL talent: Thomas Vanek, Jason Pominville, Derek Roy, Paul Gaustad, Daniel Paille, Chris Thorburn, and Ryan Miller. I am curious as to what players the current Amerks squad would get…

Hidden Gem – for a long time, Windjammers in the Town of Charlotte has been serving up incredibly delicious and fairly priced bar foods. If you are ever in the area, I implore you to try their wet cajun chicken fingers or chicken wings, harbor fries, salami chips, and any of their well-portioned burgers…

Raffi Torres – remember when this goon played for the Sabres? Weird, neither do I…

Sabres Mini-Packs – the Sabres begun the sale of mini-pack tickets to returning customers yesterday. Did I re-up? You bet your buttcrack that I did! Even got some seats down in the 100’s for the first time, just so I can see how the ritzy fans live. I fully expect champagne service and the finest beef on weck Buffalo has to offer, topped with gold shavings, or else I will be highly disappointed…

Wing Fest – its baaaaaaaaaaack! The National Buffalo Wing Festival returns to Coca-Cola Field this weekend! Last year 555,000 wings were served, or the equivalent of 37 tons of wings. If you have not attended one of these events, it is a must. Though the focus is on chicken wings, there are actually a variety of different foods, and decently priced, with plenty of giveaways and free samples. Just to witness the hordes in all of their gluttony is a sight in itself…
