With this lockout continuing into the regular season many fans are getting agitated. Players that are living their fantasies and doing what they love will hopefully be doing it again in the NHL real soon. With word coming down that a proposal for the NHLPA looks to be promising it hopefully will all play out soon.
Now the question then becomes how would AHL fans feel? Some players these fans could see as a result of this lockout this year are: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, Chris Kreider, Jeff Skinner and Buffalo’s Cody Hodgson and Marcus Foligno. These fans that may be marking their calendars to see a certain team and or player will definitely be paying a little more attention to this current offer. Tickets I think will definitely rise in certain locations where hockey in popular. Take Buffalo/Rochester for a great example. The Buffalo Sabres have some of the best ratings and ticket sales for games and now with Rochester only being about an hour away fans could still have the access to see hockey in their pro organization. Although that may be the case I can almost guarantee fans and these players are ready to go back to the NHL whenever possible.
On the other side NHL fans I believe could be concerned about a few things with their favorite players playing on a different team. I know the team is in the same organization but the speed of play, the system if any difference and also things we hope to god doesn’t happen like injuries ( Corey Tropp) and just bad habits that carry over.
This also is just a scenario with NHL and AHL teams. There are players playing all over the world and some also that are just skating and working on their own to get ready to play whenever that may be. With all that being said I can’t wait until this lockout gets sorted out.
