It’s game night for the Rochester Americans – and tonights opponent is the Binghamton Senators. Last season the Amerks and B-Sens re-opened a rivalry that benefited in the Amerks favor, with the Rochester squad winning six of the eight contests.
The Amerks have to be hoping their fortunes agains the B-Sens continue, needing a home win after suffering a loss to the Marlies to end opening weekend.
The Amerks will be without forward Corey Tropp – as he suffered the season ending knee injury.
Two players to keep an eye on if you are at the game or listening on the radio are Buffalo Sabres players and resident Amerks Marcus Foligno and Cody Hodgson. Through the two games so far Foligno is on a two game goal streak, and Hodgson has assists in both games.
Buffalo Sabres prospect T.J. Brennan also has a two game point streak going, and is listed as tied for sixth on AHL blueliner scoring, and is second for power play points.
For the Amerks to get rolling on any sort of success, disciple will have to be key. Penalties hurt them in both their opening weekend games. They were able to overcome against the Crunch, it killed them in Toronto. The penalty kill has to get better if the path to the sin bin is going to remain constant.
