Rochester Americans Game Night: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

The Rochester Americans cross state lines to face off against the Baby-Pens in one of two matchups.  The Amerks have not been able to defeat the WBS Penguins since the 2009-2010 campaign.  With the scoring prowess the Rochester squad is currently tracking, tonight could be the turn of fortunes against the B-Pens.

Cody Hodgson, T.J. Brennan, Marcus Foligno, Brayden McNabb, and Evan Rankin all have three game point streaks coming into tonight’s contest, and this point streak coincides with a three game winning streak the Amerks are currently riding.  Foligno, Hodgson, and Brennan are all leading or tied for the league lead is various area of scoring.

While points are at the pinnacle of success for the Amerks so far, (only the Portland Pirates have more) – David Leggio, from Williamsville, NY has led the charge.  He has started and played in every Amerks game so far, and leads the AHL in wins (4), minutes played (362:01), and saves (193).

The Penguins are hoping there recent history against the Rochester Americans helps turn their fortunes around this year.  Through their first four games the B-Pens are still looking for win number one. The Worchester Sharks are still looking for a win as well, but the Penguins have 0 points to the Sharks 1 (coming in a shootout loss).  So even an overtime or shootout loss would be a small moral victory for the Penguins.

Game time tonight is for 7:05 and can be heard on Sports Radio 1280.
