Rochester Americans GameNight: Adirondack Phantoms

Against AHL level talent – T.J. Brennan is proving he is ready to be a force on the blue line.  The Buffalo Sabres can only hope that when the NHL resumes operations when CBA talks resume and the sides untrench, that he will be a stalwart on a potent defense that helps the Blue and Gold reach the promised land and bring home a Stanley Cup.

Brennan is currently leading all AHL skaters in points, and by default he is the leading defensive point getter as well.

Brennan is not alone when it comes to putting points on the board.  Despite having an off night – Marcus Foligno and Cody Hodgson are in second place in league scoring, and Hodgson’s eight assists are a league high.

While the Rochester Americans are finding success with a slightly stacked NHL roster – the Adirondack Phantoms are struggling to gain traction in the standings.  With only two wins on the season, the Phantoms are looking to make a jump that will put them back in the winning ways instead of hovering below a .500 record.

The Rochester Americans  come into tonights contest after losing an overtime contest against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.  Despite some late game heroics to send the game into overtime, the Amerks allowed the Baby Penguins to score with just 14 seconds in the extra time.  Despite ending their three game winning streak, they were able to continue their point streak.  The Amerks will try tonight to not lose two games in a row.

The Phantoms come into tonights contest after having played last night as well, the Phantoms did not fair well in their contest however, as Zac Rinaldo was the only Phantom to score as the Adirondack squad fell 5-1 to the Albany Devils.

After tonights tilt, the Rochester Americans don’t return to the ice again until Friday November 2nd when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs.  This starts a Friday Frenzy in November where the Amerks are home every Friday.  Tonight’s contest can only be heard on Sports 1280 – Friday’s game agains the Bulldogs will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports.
