Rochester Americans GameNight: Hamilton Bulldogs

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

The Rochester Americans left the ice the last time sitting atop the Western Conference.  A week between games will do this to you, but they find themselves back in fifth place behind the division leaders and the Lake Erie Monsters as they start a home and home series tonight at the Blue Cross Arena with the Hamilton Bull Dogs.

Despite the week off, they still lead the Western Conference and the league in point production with 33 goals in just eight games.  Having allowed their opponents into their net 29 times, their four goal differential is not the best in the league.  That honor goes to Charlotte Checkers, who have a +13 goal differential, and the lead in the Western Conference.  They also have one more game than every other team in the league other than Lake Erie.

The top scorers for the Rochester Americans have felt the blow of the long layoff, as Marcus Foligno, T.J. Brennan, and Cody Hodgson have all fallen from the top of the scoring charts due to inactivity. With that though, the Amerks still boast three in the top 20 scorers in the league, and there is no doubt that if they can return to their scoring ways, and the NHL Lockout continues, they will return and remain at the top of the league.

Game time for the Rochester Americans tonight is set for 7:05 – and can be heard on Sports Talk 1280 in Rochester.  Tonight’s game will also be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports Network, which is Channel 52 in the Buffalo area, or 713 if you have HD.  For those in Rochester the game is on 26/1026.  The full television broadcast schedule for the Rochester Americans can be found here.
