October’s Pink is a bright way for the world to raise support and money for Breast Cancer Awareness. Not to be outdone, hockey players, normally a clean shaven bunch outside of the playoffs, celebrate “Movember” – to raise money for Men’s Health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that target men.
Several Americans players are getting in on the facial hair action – to include David Leggio and Connor Knapp; forwards Luke Adam, Brian Flynn, Marcus Foligno, Maxime Legault, Mark Mancari, Jonathan Parker, Evan Rankin, Rick Schofield, Kevin Sundher and Nick Tarnasky; and defensemen Alex Biega, T.J. Brennan, Nick Crawford, Matt MacKenzie, Brayden McNabb and Mark Pysyk.
The Rochester Americans will host the Toronto Marlies on November 30th in an event dubbed Mustaches and Movember Night and the first 1,000 fans into the Blue Cross Arena will receive Movember themed t-shirts.
Starting goaltender and fan favorite David Leggio is doing more than just skipping the razor during the month of November, The first 20 fans to make a donation of at least $10 during each of the first five home games of the month will receive an Amerks puck signed by Leggio and will also be entered into a raffle to win a game-used goalie stick autographed by Leggio.
Without our NHL stars skating in Buffalo to partake in the action, encourage our bright young stars as they raise money and awareness in conjunction with Urology Associates of Rochester. Keep track of the upper lip momentum on the teams Facebook page.
