Well, in all actuality, it was Steve Fehr and Bill Daly who met today.  The two understudies scheduled to meet and did get together for a bargaining session today, as reported by ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun.

This is good news, the two sides are talking again for the first time since October 18th.  My problem with this is, it isn’t a formal negotiation.  Why are Stevey and little Billy meeting when everyone wants Donald and Gary to be locked in a room together and not allowed to leave until they work out their differences.  I’m pretty sure the fans don’t want to hear about the #2’s in command talking on the phone or informally meeting.  They want to hear that the big guns have gotten over their egos slightly and chosen to sit down for the whole day and figure this whole thing out.  I will cook them lunch myself if they ever decide to do this.

While this is good news in the form of them finally sitting down and talking, it should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing will come of this.  Until the NHL and the PA sit down with each’s offer in hand and talk about what can be changed to make things work, then we, the fans, can finally move on from the thought of a lost season.
