The Rochester Americans were able to score first, but for the first time this season after doing so were undone by an opponent.
In game two of the home and home series with the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, the Amerks went up 2 goals, similar to what they did Friday night, but were not able to hold the lead as the ‘dogs rifled four goals past Connor Knapp – getting his first professional start.
Blake Geoffrion of the Bulldogs put two goals in and Robert Mayer got the start in back to back nights.
Rookie forward Brian Flynn for the Amerks scored the first two goals of the game, and it appeared as if the Amerks were going to skate away with another victory, having previously gone unbeaten both when scoring first and when leading after two periods of play. Nick Tarnasky would score the Amerks only other goal.
Four goals in the third period leaves the Amerks wondering how they can finish the games on top, as opposed to hoping for overtime.
The Rochester Americans have the week off to prepare for their next opponent, as they host the Adirondack Phantoms on Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. Offense was the word of the night against Adirondack the last time the clubs played, so with a rested David Leggio – the Amerks could find their winning ways once again.
Friday’s game will also be Veteran’s appreciation night – if your not doing anything and want to catch a great hockey game – join the Rochester Americans as they pay tribute to Western New York’s Veterans.
