It is Salute The Troops night in Rochester as the Rochester Americans host the Adirondack Phantoms at the Blue Cross Arena tonight. Active members of the armed forces, retired members of the armed forces, and other veterans are asked to join the Amerks tonight as they look to continue their home winning ways in a home stacked month of November.
Those members, past and present, of the military that can attend tonight are getting in for free, and can purchase discounted tickets for friends and family members that attend the game with them. Veterans are asked to bring in identification that labels them as a veteran or current service member.
In addition to honoring the members of the military that can be in attendance – Blue Star Mothers ROC and the Rochester Americans are asking for care package item donations that will be gathered and shipped to the men and woman of the U.S military that are currently serving abroad.
Back to the hockey…The Rochester Americans 39 goals are second only the Charlotte Checkers – who have 40. The Checkers have two more games than the Amerks, so that number should easily be overcome.
Leading the Americans in goals is Buffalo Sabres stand in Marcus Foligno.
Cody Hodgson has nine helpers, as he continues to be a value asset for the Americans – feeding the goal scorers the puck as often as he can. I like the fact that Hodgson has not been stingy with the passing of the puck, I would like to see him hitting the net more than just once in a ten game span.
Look for starting goaltender David Leggio to be back between the pipes tonight. He had a rare night off as Conner Knapp filled in – a loss in his professional debut.
The Phantoms are looking to use their last game as momentum – getting some offensive prowess coupled with a shutout, a win tonight would pull them to .500 hockey. Adirondack will be looking for revenge on the Amerks – as the last time the teams met just before Halloween it was all tricks and no treats for the Phantoms who dropped the contest by a 6-2 margin.
