Rochester Americans Game Night: Syracuse Crunch

Kevin Hoffman-US PRESSWIRE

The Rochester Americans hit the road tonight as they drive up the thruway to take on the Syracuse Crunch in a Saturday night showdown between the cross state rivals.

This is the second of ten meetings between the teams this year.  During the last meeting, Marcus Foligno and Mark Mancari led the way as Mancari netted the shootout winner in a offensive filled 6-5 Amerks win.

The Rochester Americans will try to slow the Crunch offense a little more this time, as they are looking to snap a two game losing streak that continued last night against the Phantoms.

Despite ten contests against the Crunch, tonight’s game will be the last time the teams meet until after the calendar rolls to 2013.

Delays in schedules have the Rochester Americans falling the standings and the stat sheets.  Their 40 goals is now fifth in the league.  T.J. Brennan is the only skater in the top 20 NHL scoring.  He is on a three game six point scoring streak.  The only other Rochester player with a scoring streak is captain Kevin Porter, who has four points in his last three games.

If your one to watch point scoring streaks, look out for Drayson Bowman of the Charlotte Checkers.  He has nine goals and an assist in his last eight games.

Tonight’s game is only available if you buy into the AHL Live package, or on the radio on Sports Talk 1280.  Up next for the Rochester Americans is a school day game, when they take on the Hamilton Bulldogs at 10AM on Wednesday.
