Don’t let the title fool you, today’s game with the Rochester Americans and Hamilton Bulldogs will be in the history books before “night” rolls around.
Today’s AHL contest between the Amerks and Bulldogs is the fourth of 12 meetings between the North Division rivals and is scheduled to start in just three hours. Its a “school day game” in Hamilton.
The last time these two teams met, Conner Knapp got his professional goaltending debut, and rookie forward Brian Flynn scored two goals, despite the Rochester Americans losing on the heals of a four goal third period by the Bulldogs.
In the hot seat for the Rochester Americans is veteran Mark Mancari who has seven points in his last eight games; Rich Schofield who has six points in eight games, and Brayden McNabb who has seven helpers in his last nine appearances.
Scoring has been something the Amerks are doing with ease. They are tied for fourth in AHL scoring with 45 – just five goals short of the league leading Charlotte Checkers.
Despite falling slightly in the ranks of AHL defenseman, T.J. Brennan has ten points in his last nine games, and ranks third among defenseman in the NHL feeder league. When you put as many shots on net as Brennan does, good things are bound to happen. He is third in the league with 45 shots taken.
Speaking of league leaders; Nick Tarnasky – dubbed here as Nick Nasty – is fourth in the AHL with 52 penalty minutes.
