If there was a lesson to be taught at today’s very early 10AM game, the Rochester Americans taught it to the Hamilton Bulldogs, as Kevin Porter lead his squad to a 4-1 victory over their rivals to the North. You want to throw our schedule off by making it a morning game instead of a morning skate? Were going to run you up on the score board.
The Rochester Americans jumped out to an early lead as Nick Tarnasky scored just 2:27 into the contest. Amerks rookie Brian Flynn scored the game winner just four minutes and 12 seconds into the second period. Jerome Gauthier-Leduc and T.J. Brennan also scored for the Rochester Americans in route to a 4-1 victory. Brennan’s goal puts him in a tie for the league lead for scoring by a defenseman.
David Leggio stopped 26 of 27 shots, allow just one goal in the third period, a goal that ment very little in the grand scheme of things, since the Bulldogs could not mount an offensive threat strong enough to beat the Rochester Americans – and were already down 4-0 when they scored their lone goal.
For Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, it was his first career professional goal. Joonas Nattinen was the lone goal scorer for the Hamilton Bulldogs.
The Rochester Americans have the rest of today and tomorrow off, before hitting the ice with the Abbotsford Heat on Friday at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.
