Other than being a devil himself, today’s image bears no significance on our pregame skate for the Rochester Americans and the Albany Devils. Tonight’s matchup, scheduled for 7:05 PM at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York – is a three game homestand for the Red, White, and Blue. After dropping their last two contests, the Amerks are looking for a home stand surge to bring them back to the top of the Western Conference standings.
Despite their trouble winning in the recent past – the Amerks are scoring at an elevated pace in the AHL, led by Marcus Foligno and T.J. Brennan – the only Rochester Americans on the top 20 AHL scoring leader. Foligno is posting better than a point per game (barely) with 16 points in 15 games, and Brennan has 14 points in 15 contests, so he is just below point per game levels.
Brennan used three games near the end of October to get up to that pace, as he had a three game, six point (4G, 2A) streak from the 19th to the 23rd. Despite playing three games in four nights last week, expect David Leggio to be back in the pipes tonight as the Rochester Americans look to snap their two game skid. Rookie backup Conner Knapp spelled Leggio once last week and is now 0-2 in his professional career.
