The Rochester Americans don’t have long to savor their 3-1 win over the Adirondack Phantoms – as they are right back at it tonight against their foes the Toronto Marlies.
The Marlies have had the Amerks number this season, so far taking all three of their contests – outscoring the red, white, and blue by a combined effort of 10-4.
part of the offensive outburst for the Marlies has been defenseman Mike Kostka – who is tied for second in AHL defensemen scoring with T.J. Brennan. Kostka is a former Americans player – from the days when the team was affiliated with the Florida Panthers.
With one three game losing skid snapped, the Amerks are going to be looking to their offensive powers, and a well rested David Leggio to lead the team tonight, hoping to stop the bleeding against a team that is more dominant in the standings than their parent club.
If the Toronto franchise can continue to develop their prospects and dominate in the AHL – they could begin to see similar results once again the NHL. Here is the recap of the last time these two teams met on 11/30/2012.
If your lucky enough to live North of the border, the game is being televised nationally in Canada on Sportsnet One.
Its not an easy stretch of games for the Rochester Americans as they return to the ice on Tuesday to play the league leading Abbotsford Heat.
