When the Rochester Americans take to the ice tonight, they will be without veteran forwards Cody Hodgson and Marcus Foligno. Both have been recalled by the parent club Buffalo Sabres in front of a CBA ratification that will have NHL training camps opening this weekend.
While Hodgson was injured – he was setting guys up like it was his job, and Foligno was putting the puck in the net – near the top of the stats column for Rochester.
T.J. Brennan will not have that competition as the scoring leader for the Rochester Americans anymore. Brennan will most likely stay with the Amerks this season, needing to clear waivers and a crowded blue line makes it tough for him to crack the Sabres lineup.
Syracuse is the first place team right now – so facing them with a depleted lineup, with Hodgson and Foligno out will be a tough challenge for the Amerks – but at the same time every AHL team is losing those few players that should be on the parents club go from the AHL to the NHL in the next few days.
The Americans skate into tonight’s tilt after a rough two games out West, splitting a two game series with the Abottsford Heat. Syracuse is ending a four game road trip in Rochester.
Tonights contest will be broadcast live on Sports 1280 WHTK in Rochester. Game time is scheduled for 7:05.
