The Rochester Americans take to the ice tonight to mend their ways at home and get their first home win of the 2013 calendar year. They will do so tonight against the Hamilton Bulldogs, wearing some special white sweaters in honor of Men’s Health Night.
Rochester has seen a hot start fizzle as of late – but have been able to hold steady in the tenth overall spot in the West conference. Losing their top scorers and leaders Cody Hodgson, Marcus Foligno, and T.J. Brennan will leave the coaching staff clamoring for creative ways to win – but every other AHL franchise is going through the same struggles at this point, figuring out how they will replace NHL caliber or NHL prospects on their team. While they are three points away from the eighth and final playoff spot, they hold games in hand on several teams ahead of them – making a jump up into the top eight possible.
The most successful AHL team from this point on is the one that was most prepared for the NHL Lockout to end.
The Bulldogs are a good opponent for the Rochester Americans to face after the stomping they received by the Crunch – in five meetings with the team so far, the Amerks have a 4-1-0 record. Leggio, who will most likely get the start in net, is 4-0 against the Bulldogs this season.
Game time is set for 7:05 and the game can only be heard on AM 1280. The Amerks are back in action tomorrow night, in a rematch against the Syracuse Crunch.
