Now that the MOU has been signed, the Buffalo Sabres will open training camp on January 13, 2012. That date is closed to the general public. Practices and scrimmages starting on Monday January 14th can be seen by any fan wishing to see the official Buffalo Sabres practices in front of an abbreviated season.
As has been anticipated, the Buffalo Sabres will open on Sunday, January 20th against the Philadelphia Flyers in front of a home crowd at the First Niagara Center. The Sabres will close the season with a home game and fan appreciation night against the New York Islanders on April 26th.
Just as in the shortened season of 1995 – the Buffalo Sabres will not play teams from the Western Conference, but will travel out West to play the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday April 9th.
Most games times stick to the traditional 7/73o time slot, but 9 times throughout the season the Sabres will start games at 1230, 3 or 5PM.
The Sabres will play back to back games nine times throughout the season.
The Carolina Hurricanes play the Buffalo Sabres three times, and I will have to see what my annual bet with KP Kelly from Outer Edge Threads will be. This will be our third annual Sabres/Hurricanes bet. So far we are 1-1.
