After the team’s 13-8 loss in Philly, they immediately flew back to Buffalo to get ready for Saturday nights home opener against the Minnesota Swarm. The Bandits started off like they did the night prior quickly going down 3-0 in the first quarter. Anthony Cosmo started the game but was quickly pulled after the three quick goals, for the second straight night the new back up goalie Kurtis Wagner came in to relieve Cosmo. After the goalie change, the team seemed to come alive. All 15,000 fans in BanditLand were relatively quiet during the first half of play. The Bandits didn’t disappoint in the second half, they came out with a whole new attitude, their passing improved and they started scoring goals. After clawing their way to a tie, half way through the fourth quarter the Bandits took their first lead of the season but it was short lived as the Swarm quickly tied the game. With 3 minutes left, the Bandits took the lead for good, winning 13-12. Much to the delight of a rowdy Bandit crowd. Rookie Dhane Smith and veteran Chad Culp both netted hat tricks to help the team get to 1-1 on the season. It was Smith’s first of his career.
The Bandits next game is tonight against our rival Rochester Knighthawks in a huge divisional match up at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. I expect a lot of Bandits fans to be in attendance. You can watch the game live on NLL.com at 7:30. The next home game is next Sunday January 26th against the Toronto Rock, tickets are still available at BuffaloBandits.com. Come out and support the team, you won’t be disappointed.
On a side note I apologize for this article being a week late, I was having some technical difficulties. Starting this Sunday there will be a wrap-up article after every Bandits game.
