Rochester Americans PreGame Skate: Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins

Five minutes after the Buffalo Sabres drop the puck with the Carolina Hurricanes, the Rochester Americans host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins.

It’s a battle of seventh place teams as the Baby Penguins visit as the seventh place team in the Eastern Conference.  This is the final game between the two clubs this season.

The chicks skated to a 5-4 victory the last time the clubs met, and there will be a new face for the Rochester Americans to contend with, as today the Pittsburgh Penguins traded with the New York Rangers and the Connecticut Whale.  The Penguins sent Benn Ferriero to Connecticut, and they got back Chad Kolarik.

Rochester is looking for their third straight win at home, and should leave it all on the ice tonight, as the teams will break for the annual All Star Classic – and will have time to rest and recover before getting back to action on February 1st, 2013.

At the halfway point in the season, the Rochester Americans are looking great at home, boasting a 14-7-0-1 record while in the confines of the Blue Cross Arena.  A win tonight ties them with the top teams in the league at home, the Abbotsford Heat and Binghamton Senators.
