Thomas Vanek gets the nod from the NHL as the Buffalo Sabres forward was tapped as the leagues first star for the week.
It’s not just that he is the only player on the Buffalo Sabres that is scoring, it’s just he’s the only one on the Buffalo Sabres roster that is scoring.
Thomas Vanek is currently in second place behind Patrick Marleau in goal scoring, is first in assists, and leads the league in scoring. Marleau is only one goal ahead of the Austrian native.
Vanek is finding a way to put the puck in the net at a surprising pace. Though his team has only managed just three points in their last seven games, and have only won three games total this year
There is no stopping Thomas Vanek – and for the Buffalo Sabres, it might be the only thing keeping them going.
It is surprising how Twitter has slown down with the #lazyvanek comments as of late. Probably because the focus of the fans has been on the rest of the team, as #benchingtylermyers is becoming very popular.
How far can Thomas Vanek let his hot streak go? According to head coach Lindy Ruff – he is not so optimistic that Vanek can continue scoring with the pace of a league leader.
I don’t think Thomas can keep up his pace, the line has really played well together have great chemistry but we do need other players to get on the scoreboard.
Yes – you need more offensive players looking to add their names to the score sheet night in and night out – but why would you be so pessimistic about the odds of your best player keeping his streak going? I think most coaches would have been like, “It’s going great for him, and right now were, leaning too much on just that effort. It will be nice to add one or two more guys to the scoresheet on top of Vanek’s production. It’s almost like Lindy Ruff set it up for when Vanek hits a cold streak, he can say, “I told you so.” or “We knew this was coming.”
