Tyler Myers is back in the fold for the Buffalo Sabres – and he needs to be play like the big man that he is, instead of the scared mite that he has been.
Tonight the Buffalo Sabres face off against the Ottawa Senators in capital for Canada for the second meeting between the two teams.
The last outing saw the Senators hold on for a 4-3 vicotry against the struggling Sabres.
Offense has not been the problem for the Sabres, and if they can turn things back on after a missing performance against the Boston Bruins – they may stand a chance against the Senators.
Since the last time the two teams met, the Ottawa offense and special teams has taken a hiatus, leaving the team struggling for more.
Both teams have to be looking at tonights game as a way of getting back on the right track. For Buffalo – they are trying to avoid another string of losses. For the Senators, its getting the ship righted to continue its run of games.
Special teams is a problem for both teams right now, Buffalo’s defensive woes are compounded by the fact their power play is 1 for 23 recently. Ottawa is 0-6 in their last two games.
Starting the season 5-1-1 – the only win the Senators have been able to get in their last five games has been against the Buffalo Sabres.
With Myers back in the lineup – Mike Weber might find himself watching from the press box – as him and defensive prospect T.J. Brennan continue to wait in the wings. With a healthy defensive corp however, Lindy Ruff has options once again. Weber’s game has been great since stepping in, so the #freeweber campaign could go on hold while Lindy takes a look at someone else to get the chance to save their legs and get their head right. My vote would be for Jordan Leopold to take a seat, but head coach Lindy Ruff this morning on WGR550 has said he is not ready to pull the plug on Leopold just yet.
While the Buffalo Sabres last played on Sunday and lost to a refreshed and rested Boston Bruins team, the Senators have not played since getting shutout by the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
