Brian Flynn Gets First Professional Goal In Shootout Loss

The Buffalo Sabres could have made history last night.  A victory would have set the New Jersey Devils on the first seven game losing streak in 27 years.

Instead, they suffered a shootout loss at the hands of the Devils – disappointing given the play of backup goaltender Jhonas Enroth – who was looking for his win in over a year.

There were some positives from last nights game however.  The Buffalo Sabres earned a point, keeping them in the mix, albeit loosely for the final playoffs spot in the Eastern Conference.

Thomas Vanek found the scoresheet again – so hopefully this will light another fire under the Buffalo Sabres Austrian Sniper.

Rookie Brian Flynn – an undrafted free agent also notched his first NHL goal last night.

With his goal, Brian Flynn joins a lenghty list of players to score a goal in a Buffalo Sabres uniform.  This marks the occasion of the 288th player in franchise history to tally a goal.

This season Flynn joins 16 other Sabres with goals, and has only appeared in four games . There are eight members of the team who have dressed for games that have yet to score.  Only Cody Hodgson and Thomas Vanek have reached the double digit mark.  Vanek has 13 goals and should be able to eclipse the 20 goal mark this season.
