If the Buffalo Sabres are shopping goaltender Ryan Miller – they may have one team less to bargain with. The Detroit Red Wings announced yesterday that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Jimmy Howard.
The deal for Howard is a six year deal, and is reportedly worth 31.8 million dollars. With only one year remaining on his contract, and a rebuild underway in Buffalo – rumors are that the Buffalo Sabres could be shoppping Ryan Miller to get a fresh start in net, either at the request of the former Olympian – or because the team wants to make a change.
The signing of Jimmy Howard by Detroit takes Ryan Miller off the table for Hockey Town. Detroit was always the fan favorite destination for Ryan Miller – as he comes from Michigan.
The signing has other implications on the Buffalo Sabres – as starting next year they will be facing the Detroit Red Wings more often in the schedule, and will be fighting not only with their normal Northeast Division rivals for a playoff spot, but with the Red Wings as well.
Does the signing of Jimmy Howard make you want to keep Ryan Miller more – or do you feel that Jim Corsi and the Buffalo Sabres would be better off with a fresh face in the crease for 2013-2014?
