Daily Dasherboard Wednesday April 24, 2013

Well hockey fans, there is just one more game remaining the 2013 Buffalo Sabres campaign.  All we have left to look forward to is locker clean out day, and the draft lottery before the playoffs start.

I am going to start featuring some of the many player foundations on our Daily Dasherboard, so hockey fans in Buffalo can see and know what charities are out there sponsored by or funded by NHL players and teams.

Today’s feature is Jordan Tootoo’s Team Tootoo.  If your on facebook, head over and like the foundations Facebook page.  Check out the foundations website, and learn more about the efforts of Detroit’s number 22 in his raising awareness for suicide prevention.

This off season is going to be an interesting one, because the future of the crease in Buffalo is, entering murky waters.  Is Ryan Miller still the goalie for the future of the organization, is Jhonas Enroth a viable option for the team going forward – or will the team need to focus on free agency? [Rochester Democrat and Chronicle].

That’s not the only storyline to come out of Buffalo this off season.  The Buffalo Sabres still have much work to do in reshaping this team to make it a winning franchise once again.  [Bleacher Report].

Jochen Hecht was an early season re-acquisition for the Buffalo Sabres who needed the aging center to help fill depth at the position.  This year Hecht is a finalist for the Masterton Trophy.  If he wins he will join Don Luce and Pat Lafontaine as Buffalo Sabres winners of this award.

If the Buffalo Sabres were the Teanage Mutant Ninja Turtles – who on the team would represent each of the four legendary cartoon icons?  See who on each team in the Eastern Conference could play the role of your favorite hero in a half shell [Puck Daddy].

The Ninja Turtle thing is classic. Funny stuff. Good luck on the award Hecht. I am sure this will be his last year, so what a great way to go out if he wins.
