Sometimes writing is just as frustrating as coaching a bad team. It’s like I sit in a corner and talk to myself sometimes. Yesterday I wrote that the Buffalo Sabres don’t have to go with Ron Rolston, that keeping him was nothing more than a safe bet against the future – not taking a chance on going with someone that might actually rock the boat around here and win.
As Jeremy said on WGR550 this morning as I was driving into work – it is nothing personal against Ron Rolston. I don’t know if from Tuesday. He may very well be a great guy. I just don’t want him coaching the hockey team I have so much time and money invested in.
The Buffalo Sabres put that to bed this morning, naming Ron Rolston the 16th coach in Buffalo Sabres history, on the tails of taking over a team that did little more than roll over and die on themselves. He went 15-11-5 after picking up a team that started out 6-10-1.
Darcy Regier and Ron Rolston will be available for a press conference today at 11PM.
What do you think of the Ron Rolston hire? Predictable? Right choice? Wrong choice?
Can he turn things around with a full off season and a training camp under his belt?
