Then there were four. Now that the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in overtime to win game 7, the Conference Finals are set. The Chicago Blackhawks will square off against the Los Angeles Kings in the West, while the battle of the East will pin the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Boston Bruins. Ironically enough, the final four teams have all won the Stanley Cup within the last 4 years. Which means one team will win the Cup for a second time in a span of less than 5 years. If your team is looking to build a contending team, perhaps they should take a page from these teams.

Buckle up, the Conference Finals are right around the corner. We’ve seen some stellar hockey throughout the first two rounds and it’s about to get even better, this is why playoff hockey is the best.

It’s pretty difficult to steal the thunder away from a game 7 between two historic rivals, but the New York Rangers tried their best. The Rangers made headlines surprising everyone by firing head coach John Tortorella. Now anytime a team can make it to the Conference Semi-Finals in a lockout-shortened season, you’d expect the coach to be safe.
