The Buffalo Sabres want hockey to be a year round conversation at the foot of Washington Street, and they are adding more and more events to make that a real possibility. Looking beyond the draft and free agency, the Buffalo Sabres are preparing for rookie development.
The Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Place announced today to not just have rookie development camp, but to make it a week long hockey summer fest – centered around the teams rookie development camp. It will take place July 8th – July 12, with the week ending with a intra-squad scrimmage at First Niagara Center, followed by an outdoor concert with 10,000 Maniacs.
Family friendly prices will be available at concession stands during the scrimmage – and doors will open up at First Niagara Center at 3PM for the Friday 4PM scrimmage. This will give the Buffalo Sabres prospects time to develop some chemistry, as they will be headed to the Traverse City Tournament to defend their title from two seasons ago. Last years Traverse City Tournament was cancelled due to the impending lockout.
Tickets for the Sabres Summer Fan Fest will go on Sale this Thursday for $10. Fans that purchase tickets will get a bonus – the ability to purchase a discounted ticket to the July 13th Bisons game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Season ticket holders for the 2013-2014 season will get one free ticket for every each seat they have purchased for the upcoming season.
It might still seem like so long ago that Blue and Gold took to the ice, but hockey is returning to First Niagara Center faster than you think.
