It’s almost upon us.

Now that game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals is over, with the Chicago Blackhawks winning and taking a 3-2 series lead, the coronation of a champion is just days away.  As early as Monday, and no later than Wednesday, we will witness the shiver-inducing tradition of the victors hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup high in the air, a tradition unlike anything else in the world of professional sports.  Get pumped!

Onto the day’s links.  A good place to start?  A look at how the Blackhawks have managed to win the last two games in order to take the series lead.  [Bleacher Report]

Johnny Boychuk knocked Jonathan Toews out of the game last night.  Will he be disciplined?  Read Garth’s take on the hit. [Hockey Buzz]  Seems as if the NHL really isn’t as concerned with head injuries as they claim to be, IMO.

It’s sad to hear about what’s happening in Alberta.  Read about how the Saddledome has been impacted by the flooding. [TSN]

Last for today: while I normally like to end with something that is about the Buffalo Sabres, I leave you with this off-season game plan for a team who will be joining the Sabres’ division next season: the Detroit Red Wings.  [TSN]
