As much as the Buffalo Sabres regular season was relatively unentertaining, the draft and the start of free agency has been interesting at best.  Adam Pardy and Alexander Sulzer allowed to walk, talks with Danny BriereVincent Lecavalier from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Philadelphia Flyers.

It doesn’t get any better than this hockey fans, oh wait, yes it does – actually watching hockey.  Soon enough.  Soon enough.

Ron Rolston has started to fill his bench out.  With former NHL player Teppo Numminen already behind the bench, Rolston adds former Colorado Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco as an assistant coach.  Will that help ease the transition of a player if a Buffalo Sabres – Colorado trade is in play? [Yahoo Sports].

Don’t expect a big splash on Friday, but maybe a ripple.  Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier told the media that the Sabres would be looking for complementary pieces, not stars in free agency.  Since Terry Pegula came on board they shot for stars and got pieces, maybe stars will come now when you least expect it?  [Buffalo News].

The Vinny Sweepstakes, which started shortly after the Tampa Bay Lightning exercised their amnesty buyout on the former captain Vincent Lecavalier, has been won by none other than the Philadelphia Flyers.  It didn’t take the Flyers long to fill the void where Danny Briere once stood.  [Bleacher Report].
