The Buffalo Sabres put out the fire sale sign last spring looking to rebuild their roster and change over the core. Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek remain on the roster – and both of those players make this team better. Solid goaltending (when he has a good defense in front of him and he doesn’t want to give up) and reliable scoring from a man who takes more than his fair share of abuse to park himself in front of opposing goaltenders. Where is all the talk about Drew Stafford though? I would be pushing harder for him to get off this team.
Normally I am one to enjoy a good article on Puck Daddy, but this one is just about as useful as an extra hole in the head. Nothing like stating the obvious. 200 words or so on the fact that Darcy still has time to move Ryan Miller. It’s not going to happen until the trade deadline folks. If it happens at all. [Puck Daddy].
With the rebuild going slower than most fans would like – here are some answers, like them or not, to off season questions for the Buffalo Sabres. Some are stating the obvious, others need to be said, and repeated. [Bleacher Report].
Brenden Morrow is still on the open market, and the Buffalo Sabres should be interested. But they also have to contend with the other 28 teams that want him on their roster. [CBS Sports].
Seems like the NHL is dragging its feet on important details (CBA talks, Olympic participation, head injuries) but also some subtle ones like renaming its newly aligned league. Could Bettman be considering selling the naming rights to the divisions of his league? [Philly.com].
