It’s summertime.  It’s days like today that the NHL needs to take a page out of the NBA book and have a summer league.  Even if its a handful of guys that

want to play, create a six team league and fill it with the guys that want to play.  Late July/August is just a suck for hockey – and the only thing they really have to contend with is NFL training camp.  It would definitely kill any cabin fever that I am having for hockey in the dead of the summer.

Make it or break it for Ville Leino.  I have more thoughts on this, but for now, do you see the buyout of Ville Leino coming if he can’t perform up to the level of his contract? [Hockey Buzz].

It’s no secret that the Buffalo Sabres have more than enough goalie prospects to fill the void in the absence of Ryan Miller.  Do they have enough good goalie presence though? [Rant Sports].

The NHL is already in panic mode over the Heritage Classic.  Without an open dome, it doesn’t make that game real special between the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks – which isn’t really a hotbed of rivalry anyways. [NHL.com].

**Spoiler Alert** And a non hockey link – since we are talking about a dome.

Are you watching Under the Dome?  I am a huge Stephen King fan – and have been enthralled by the series.  Now I haven’t read the book, but I hear its different enough to have turned off some King die-hards, but the King of Fear has given his blessing on the show. Things are heating up in Chester’s Mill – if you haven’t been watching, you might want to catch up, and tune in Monday.  [Hollywood Reporter].

Who are going to be the leaders of the major stat categories next year?  With buyouts and a smaller cap – will new stars emerge? [Bleacher Report].
