Traverse City Tournament To Be Broadcast Live

If you weren’t looking forward to the Traverse City Tournament because you can’t follow the games live – then fear not, the Buffalo Sabres have given you that opportunity.

Check your radio or smart phone, as you will be able to hear all the Traverse City action on AM radio, station 1520.  WGR550′s own Paul Hamilton will provide the play-ny-play action for the Buffalo Sabres.

The tournament is scheduled to start next week, with the Sabres playing games on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.  All games are played at 4PM EST.  The prospects from Buffalo will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, and Carolina Hurricanes respectively.  Buffalo is considered the “home” team in all games except the Carolina contest.

Buffalo will also play in the final day of the tournament on Monday September 9th, depending on how they are seeded after the round robin play.

The fourth place teams will play at 3:30PM, 3rd place teams will take the ice at 4PM, and later in the evening second place plays at 7PM.  The championship game between the two top teams from the divisions will play at 7:30.

Buffalo stands the chance at playing either the hosting Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, or St. Louis Blues on Championship Monday.  Two season ago the Buffalo Sabres prospects defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 to win the 2011 Traverse City Tournament.  Buffalo will play in the Ted Lindsay division.

If you have the chance to be in the area, tickets can be purchased for the games – the cost is ten dollars per day (you get four games each day).  For more information and to purchase tickets check out www.centreice.org.

I agree, but its better than nothing – I think they should have more of these tournaments and definitely broadcast them on the internet or at least the NHL Network.
