Daily Dasherboard September 9, 2011

It seems like just yesterday we were basking in the warmth of August and wondering when hockey would return to Buffalo.  Here it is nine days into

September already – and the Buffalo Sabres prospects are looking at a “championship” game with the Detroit Red Wings today for their second Traverse City Tournament title.  I might just get sick of hearing “the future will be bright” around Buffalo this year if the team on the ice sucks – Darcy doesn’t have the proven track record of keeping players around to prove to me that drafting young talent will be worth it.

The Detroit Red Wings will be today’s opponent for the Buffalo Sabres heading into the final day of the tournament.  Will the Buffalo Sabres put away two tourney’s in a row?

Most people in the United States are gearing up for the 12th anniversary of the September 11, 2011 attack on New York City.  The hockey world this year marked the second anniversary of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash which shattered the hockey world in September 2011.  [CBC Sports].

It’s a good thing the Buffalo Sabres got out of Portland when they did - the Pirates are suing the Civic Center over their lease agreement. [Maine Hockey Journal].

I caved.  Several months ago I wrote that I would not be buying into the hype of another EA Sports hockey game – and would just continue to play my copy of NHL13 until such a time when I needed to upgrade because the disc became unplayable.  I put  my down my $5 to reserve NHL 14 and I am was eagerly anticipating the release of the game.  After reading this - I might want my $5 back.  [CNet].
