The Buffalo Sabres open training camp today, and the word of the day, week, month, and season will be, “rebuild” – understandably so.   The Sabres have a metric ton of young talent in their pipeline just waiting to burst onto the NHL scene, and training camp is just the first step that many of the future Sabres will take during their journey to the major leagues.

Yet it is not just the young guns who will have a lot to prove over the course of the 2013-2014 NHL season.  There are a handful of veteran Sabres players who also must make a good impression on the fans and their bosses, due either to injuries robbing them of playing time last season, lackluster efforts, or in some cases, both.
