Buffalo Sabres PreGame Skate: Carolina Hurricanes

So far so good for the Buffalo Sabres in the 2013-2014 pre season schedule.  Buffalo has had a hold one for a win type victory against the Montreal Canadiens, and a nice victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tonight the Buffalo Sabres will open up the home portion of their pre season schedule against the Carolina Hurricanes.  The Buffalo Sabres would like to offer this traffic report for fans heading to First Niagara Center tonight – as it will be the first hockey game at the arena while construction on the HarborCenter is going on.

Vehicular traffic is reduced to one lane on Washington Street (Northbound away from arena) and one late on Main Street (Southbound towards arena).  There are no road closures currently planned during arena events.

Fans should plan on using Michigan Avenue instead of Washington Street.  The team is strongly suggested that fans plan ahead and leave extra time for traveling to and from the arena.

The Buffalo Police Department Traffic Division will control the traffic at all intersections affected and will direct traffic accordingly.

The Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes have played nine pre season games all time, including games played against the Hartford Whalers.  Buffalo is 4-4-1 in those games.  Buffalo is undefeated in its last five home preseason games.  Buffalo faces Carolina three times this season, with two home games in January.

Ryan Miller and Matt Hackett will be dressing for the Buffalo Sabres in net tonight.  Jhonas Enroth gets his second night off in the pre-season.  Andrey Makarov, Conner Knapp, and Nathan Lieuwen have not dressed at all in the pre-season so far.

Also having not dressed in the preseason are Phil Varone, Eric Locke, Colin Jacobs, Brady Austin, Johnny McGuire, Nick Crawford, Tim Schaller, Frederick Roy, Peter Trainor, Alex Lepkowski, Jonathan Parker, Matt MacKenzie, Daniel Catenacci, Shawn Szydlowski, Drew Bagnall, Mike Zigomanis, and Kevin Sundher.

Skating for Buffalo on Defense tonight will be Mark Pysyk, Christian Erhoff, Henrik Tallinder, Brayden McNabb, Rasmus Ristolainen, Tyler Myers, and Nikita Zadorov.

Forwards playing tonight are Steve Ott, Kevin Porter, Cody Hodgson, Johan Jarsson, Ville Leino, Mikhail Grigorenko, Thomas Vanek, Joel Armia, Patrick Kaleta, Tyler Ennis, Brian Flynn, Colton Gillies, Luke Adam, and Corey Tropp.

So far the Buffalo Sabres are 2-0 in the pre season.

Carolina opened their pre season schedule against new division rival the Columbus Blue Jackets, and dropped a 5-4 decision.
