Opening Night: Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings usher in their Eastern Conference era with a game against the Buffalo Sabres.  Detroit opens up their home portion of the schedule with a visit from the Buffalo Sabres.  The game takes place on the second night of competition – as the league opens up play on October 1st.

Detroit is looking to capitalize on an easier travel schedule – without having to take so many trips out to California and back.  Detroit joins the Buffalo Sabres in the new Atltantic Division.  The Red Wings will be looking for post season berth number 23 in the last 24 years – the only year they missed was the lockout season in which there were no playoffs.

The game can be seen on TNS2 or NBCSN and is scheduled for 8PM.
