3 Stars From the Buffalo Sabres Week 1

With the Buffalo Sabres set to kick off their second week of the new NHL season, it’s time to look back at the three stars from the first week of action. Despite the 0-3 start there has been some exciting action over the past week and some players have stepped up.

The Sabres began their regular season in Detroit on National television where they dropped a close 2-1 game. They then hosted the Senators at home, where they once again lost a close one-goal game. Finally they travelled to Pittsburgh and were soundly defeated 4-1 by a much superior Penguins team.

Tonight week two begins as the Sabres take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in search for their first win of the young season. Can the Sabres get an early jump on the Lightning and earn their first W? It’s a new slate this week, but for now a stick tap to the three stars from last week.

You almost have it about right. I believe top 3 should easily be given to whoever scores for this horrid offense and to the goalie who’s keeping these pucks out of our net for the most part. I’d say…
    1. Miller
    2. Girgensons
    3. Vanek
    Honorable Mention
Enroth (No matter what others say, he played awesome against probably the best team in the league. He had absolutely no help defensively. Everyone blames the defense when Miller struggles like nobodies business and it’s all Enroth’s fault when he loses? lol Like I said too many Enroth haters on this site.)

I think Enroth had a solid outing for sure, but it was just one… he definetely get’s an honourable mention
I just think Vanek’s been off to a rough start… haven’t seen much from him

It usually is Enroth’s fault when he loses, because he is often out of position where he can easily be scored on.

and gives up pretty jouicy rebounds

    The 3 stars were actually:

    1. Miller
    2. Enroth
    3. Al Cohol

    • Jes

love that last one. should be first.

    • Caitlin Campbell

Cohol? Cody Hodgson? He has 1 assist… and hasn’t shown up to play as of yet
