Aside from Miller who has been lights out, it’s pretty tough to find other players who put out impressive performances over the past week. Zemgus Girgensons has arguably been the Sabres best forward and most consistent player through the first three games and he may even spend some time on the top line alongside Thomas Vanek and Cody Hodgson tonight as a reward. Girgensons has looked fantastic on the ice and the best part is he’s still young. He’s going to fill-out more and he’s going to mature further and when he does, look out.

Out of all the rookie and youngsters in the line-up Girgensons has perhaps shown that he fits in best. He doesn’t look like a young player out on the ice. His physical presence and hockey IQ is shining through and he has many fans excited for his future.

He’s put up just 1 point through three games but it’s the little things he does that attracts everyone’s attention. The backchecking, shot blocking and tape-to-tape passes make this kid a force to be reckoned with. He’s tied for the team lead in scoring, not bad for a rookie who had to battle hard for his spot eh?
