Sabres - Blackhawks Fan Prediction Thread

Afternoon, Buffalo Sabres fans!

It’s game day, which means it is time to hear what you have to say about tonight’s match-up between the boys in blue and gold and the defending Stanley cup-champions, the Chicago Blackhawks.

Yep.  The winless Sabres are hoping to travel to Chi-town and pick up their first win of the season.  Right now, even a loss in OT will be a moral victory for this team, who need to see something resembling a positive result for their efforts, or else this season could quickly spiral out of control.

Tensions already seem to be running high in the Sabres’ locker room, if blueliner Mike Weber‘s comments following the Sabres 4-1 blowout loss at home to Columbus is any indication:

“I’m tired of hearing it’s a young team, I’m really tired of hearing it.  There’s no excuses in here. All these guys have played now five games in this League. We need to find a way. We’re going to make mistakes. But we need to make plays. We need to generate something. We need to get something going.”

He’s right of course, and he should know – he watched one puck bounce off of his skate for a goal on Thursday, while another goal was a direct result of his decision to skate right into goaltender Ryan Miller, leaving the net wide open for Marian Gaborik.  The list of players who need to stop making mistakes and start making plays is about ten feet long right now.  Can they take the first step toward turning things around tonight in the Windy City?

Questions to consider (remember, you can leave ANY prediction you want in the comments!):

1. Will Tyler Myers or Mike Weber record a positive +/- tonight?

2. Can any of the Sabres’ rookies net their first goal of the season tonight?

3. Will the Sabres get at least one point tonight?

Join the conversation and let me know what you think!!!

1st win is what we are after. Only team I believe without one?

New Jersey is also winless. They have 3 OT losses.

ohhh ok thank god we aren’t the only ones.

Now that my head is on right . . . sadly, I don’t see Myers or Weber leaving the ice tonight with a + to their name. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sabres get shut out. I’m picking the Blackhawks to win, and hope to see Girgorenko or Larsson find the back of the net to help boost their confidence.

Oh common Rich, no more shutout predictions?

        I have regained my senses!

Sabres win 4-1 tonight. Vanek with hattrick.

    1. Myers will have a positive +/- as for Weber no.
    2. No rookies score tonight.
    3. Yes, Sabres will take 2 points in CHI-Town.

I dont see Buffalo fixing their woes against Chicago – they are not the same Chicago that stormed through the first half of last season – but they are still too much for this edition of the Buffalo Sabress – I think it is going to be another 4-1 effort, with the Sabres goal coming at a point in the game where the goal wouldnt matter.

Well, one part of your prediction was right, a goal when it didn’t matter in my opinion at least.
