Buffalo Sabres fans, and my dear Sabre Noise readers, it’s game day.
And I have to say, I am looking forward to tonight’s match-up between the Sabres and the Canucks.
As crummy as the Sabres’ 1-6-1 start to this season has been at times, there have been flashes of promise, tantalizing glimpses of a level of play that would make Buffalo competitive on a nightly basis in the NHL if only this team could develop some consistency. This team’s potential became evident in the third period of the Sabres’ game against the Chicago Blackhawks, and definitely was on display as the Sabres overcame three one-goal deficits the other night against the New York Islanders. Could it be that this team is starting to gel, and that we are in for a better season than we would have predicted before Tuesday night’s breakthrough?
I certainly hope so. I also hope that the Sabres start to play a bit better at home; their best play has come on the road so far, with the team looking a little more shaky and less confident on their home ice in the First Niagara Center. It would be nice for the Sabres to give the home crowd something to really cheer about tonight as the host the Canucks.
My questions for you to consider:
1. Can Johan Larsson score his first NHL goal tonight? I sure hope so.
2. The Canucks average just under 3 (2.86) goals per game. Can the Sabres keep up with them offensively?
3. Which Drew Stafford will show up – the one we have seen the last 2-3 games, or last year’s version?
Join the discussion, have fun, and go Sabres!
