It’s too early
The initial story out of Buffalo is that the team was waiting till Christmas before making a decision on Regier’s future, but with their
pitiful 0-6-1 start the Sabres are debating his future now. I know it’s happened where coaches and GM’s have gotten let go early in the season, but you’re not going to fire a GM who’s had 16 years at the helm just 9 games into a rebuilding season.
Reviewing the state of the rebuilding Sabres at Christmas and debating Regier’s future then makes a little more sense than doing so just 9 games in. Terry Pegula and Darcy Regier knowingly went into a rebuild knowing how bad the team could be, it’s going to take more than a 1-7-1 record to change Regier’s seat in Buffalo. Maybe if the Sabres go 8-20 between now and Christmas Pegula looks into a change but for right now it’s Regier time in Buffalo.
