They don’t listen to the fans
Obviously when you’re running a professional sports franchise the fans are kind of important since they buy the tickets and fill the
arena’s, but aside from that they don’t get much say. You can rest assure that the Sabres management hears your #FireDarcy chants at games and are seeing the empty seats at the First Niagara Center, but is that really having an impact?
We have to remember owner Terry Pegula has more money than you or I will likely ever come across unless we win the lottery twice. The guy is loaded, he could pay people to go and watch the Sabres if he wanted to. A few empty seats aren’t going to bother him, especially since a lot of those seats are already paid for by season ticket holders no? The #FireDarcy chant’s are great entertainment, but let’s remember you’re still at the game spending money when you’re chanting.
If the Sabres actually cared what the fans had to say Lindy Ruff would have been gone long before, Regier would be gone by now and they would get rid of those horrible 3rd jersey’s. Instead we have Ted Black come out and support the jersey’s and the Ruff and Regier tandem lasting much longer than it should have. This is an organization that has said it will look at the big picture instead of the here and now, they’re not going to overreact to a poor start, they’re going to wait before making any firing decisions.
