When most teams sit 1-7-1 after their first 9 games you would expect their practices to be pretty grueling. Perhaps a bag skate, push ups, laps or even just a tougher inspection for all drills, but Ron Rolston has a different method for a team that win. What is Rolston’s method? Well you’ll have to check out this video http://instagram.com/p/fnXIIVgXvd/ to find out.
Yes, you saw correctly, the Buffalo Sabres ended practice on Friday with a rookie dance-off. Maybe Mikhail Grigorenko can use his moves to help him on the scoreboard. Which rookie had the best moves at practice? The twerking, diving Zemgus Girgensons.
Now there’s a lot of mixed emotions about the Sabres dance battle at the end of practice but I think it was an awesome idea. When a team isn’t winning they aren’t having any fun and what’s more fun that a dance-off?
“They were just trying to get some energy going, have some fun” ~ Ron Rolston
There is no better way to lift the pressure than having some fun at practice. If you listened to the post game comments from last night’s game you can tell the Sabres are frustrated, they need something to lighten the mood and since they’re not winning, why not try dancing? Why harp on the negative? the players already know they have to be better and at least for now they can smile.
What do you think of the Buffalo Sabres dance off? Do you like Rolston’s attempt to keep the mood light despite the Buffalo Sabres poor play or do you think they should be working harder?
