Daily Dasherboard Friday, November 1

Welcome to November, Buffalo Sabres and NHL fans in general!

With one month officially in the books for the NHL, I think it is safe to say that the Buffalo Sabres will not be making it into the playoffs this year.  Call it a hunch!  (Actually, they may already be mathematically eliminated – that would be a record right?)  That doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy the hockey season – there’s too many good stories out there, and even the Sabres are going to continue to grow and provide some drama (Ryan Miller trade rumors, anyone?).

Let’s see what kind of storylines we have today!

There wasn’t much action in the NHL last night, so it shouldn’t take much to get you caught up!  [TSN]

The Semyon Varlamov saga took a chilling turn when his accuser spoke to the media last night.  [Sports Illustrated]  Terrifying stuff, if it’s true.

Here’s a great story I missed at first, about the NHL community rallying to help an injured high school player.  [ESPN]  What a great story!

NHL players – they’re human!  They dress up for Halloween, too!  Here’s some of their outfits. [Sporting News]

We can all relate to this piece about being able to watch your favorite player. [Puck Daddy]  It helps to be reminded of why we enjoy this sport so much.

I’m sure you can already guess where the Buffalo Sabres fit into this piece – the NHL winners and loses for the month of October – but there are 29 other teams to read about, you know!  Stop dwelling on the negative!   [Bleacher Report]

Plenty of people wonder why GM Darcy Regier still has his job.  Here’s an article that asks the question, is Regier the right man to steer the Sabres through their rebuild?  [The Hockey News]  Read with an open mind – it’s a well-articulated piece.

And finally – will November be a better month for the Sabres?  [Hockey Buzz]  Well, it can’t be much worse, now can it?

Enjoy your Friday, everyone!
