The Buffalo Sabres host the Anaheim Ducks in the First Niagara Center tonight – no, don’t leave! This game will be close, I swear!
Yes, I know: the Sabres have only won two games so far this season. And yes, the Sabres are winless at home, having earned only one point in the FNC thanks to an overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. And sure, Anaheim is second in the entire NHL with 21 points, only one point behind the Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks. And did I mention that the Ducks rank among the top in the NHL in goals scored and goals against, and that the Sabres just placed fan favorite Patrick Kaleta on waivers today?
Come on – that’s the perfect recipe for success! No one believes the Sabres can win this game!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Okay: so things look pretty bad for the Sabres. But let’s be realistic: Buffalo is less concerned with winning games this season than it is with giving its players the chance to play, make mistakes, and learn from them as the season progresses. For better or for worse, the Sabres have decided that winning games ranks right along with organizing their sock drawers this year.
Questions to consider:
1. Can anyone score for Buffalo against Anaheim? Anyone at all?
2. Jhonas Enroth is in goal tonight – how does he do? He’s played great so far this year; I hope he continues that trend.
3. Which rookie has the best game?
Let’s get some noise down there in the comments section, everyone!!!
