Buffalo Sabres - Anaheim Ducks: Fan Chatter

What a game, Buffalo Sabres fans!

What’s that – you didn’t stay up last night to watch the Sabres come one goaltender shy of beating the Los Angeles Kings?  (Damn you, Jonathan Quick!)

Too bad, because it was a thoroughly entertaining game and a really nice effort by the Sabres.  Those are two things I have not been able to say very much so far this season, so I am proud to finally be able to type that.  Really, the first two games of this three-game West Coast trip have been enjoyable and full of positive signs for the blue and gold, and we can only hope that this trend continues tonight as the Sabres end their West Coast swing by visiting the Anaheim Ducks.

Yes, those same Ducks that beat the Sabres 6-3 in Buffalo last week.   Yes, those same Ducks who currently have the best record in all of the NHL.  And yes, those same Ducks who were picked by none other than ME to win the Stanley Cup this year!  (And last year, too.  At least this year, I look like I know what I’m talking about!)

I’m not going to sugar-coat this one for you: this is the toughest challenge the Sabres will face during their working vacation in the land of sunshine and caviar dreams.  Anaheim has solid goaltending, size, grit, and the dynamic duo of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.  Add to that the fact that the Sabres are banged up and exhausted, and you have the recipe for yet another blowout loss at the hands of the Ducks.

However. you could argue that Buffalo is playing noticeably better this week than they did last week, so could it be that these upstart Sabres take it to Ananehim all night long and steal a W?  Hmmmmm.

Sorry – I’ll save my predictions for down below!

Questions to consider:

1. Can Ryan Miller go 2-0 on the West Coast by earning another big win tonight?

2. Does Matt Moulson begin another points streak tonight?

3. Which player on the Zemgus GirgensonsBrian FlynnJohan Larsson line gets points tonight?   They have been looking good lately.

Let’s get this chatter going!  Go Sabres!
